zirconium silica fume, a compound of zirconium dioxide, zirconium oxide melting products, also called silicon ash. This Zr silica fume is derived from the same zircon used to make fused Zirconia, and is captured from the furnace during the fusion process. It not only has the general characteristics of silica,  but also has a certain amount of zirconia powder. It is amorphouse, gray-white flour and characterized by a particle size less than 1 micron and high specific surface area which makes it a particularly high quality product.
